Regulation & Resilience: A Trauma-Informed Group to Help You Feel More Calm, Grounded, and in Control

Do you ever feel like your body is always on edge, tense, overwhelmed, or stuck in stress mode?
Maybe your mind wants to relax, but your body won’t follow. You feel anxious, easily triggered, or exhausted from trying to push through the day.

If this sounds familiar, you are not alone. Many people carry stress and trauma in their bodies without fully understanding why it feels so hard to slow down, feel safe, or regain a sense of calm.

Understanding Your Nervous System And Why It Matters

Our bodies are wired to protect us. When we experience stress, trauma, or prolonged overwhelm, the nervous system can become stuck in patterns of survival—fight, flight, freeze, or shutdown.

You might notice this as:

  • Constant tension or restlessness
  • Difficulty relaxing or sleeping
  • Feeling easily overwhelmed
  • Sudden emotional reactions
  • Physical discomfort without a clear cause
  • Trouble staying present or focused

These responses are not signs of weakness. They are signs that your nervous system has been working hard to keep you safe.

Regulation & Resilience is designed to help you gently shift those patterns by learning how to listen to your body, recognize stress responses, and build tolerance for discomfort in a safe and supportive environment.

What Makes This Group Different

This group is trauma-informed and integrates gentle somatic practices, meaning the focus is not just on talking but on helping your body feel calmer and more regulated.

Somatic practices are simple, practical techniques that help you:

  • Notice what your body is experiencing
  • Calm your nervous system
  • Reduce anxiety and overwhelm
  • Increase awareness of stress patterns
  • Build resilience over time

You won’t be asked to share anything you’re not comfortable sharing. Participation is always at your own pace.

The goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you can explore new ways to feel more grounded and in control of your responses to stress.

What You’ll Learn in the Group

Over six weeks, participants will develop skills that support both emotional and physical regulation.

You can expect to learn:

  • How to recognize your body’s stress signals
  • Techniques to calm your nervous system
  • Ways to reduce anxiety and tension
  • How to increase awareness of stress patterns in the body
  • Skills to build tolerance for discomfort
  • Strategies to feel more grounded and resilient

These tools are designed to be practical and sustainable—skills you can use in daily life, not just during moments of crisis.

Why Group Support Can Be So Powerful

At Campbell Counseling, we believe healing happens in connection. Group therapy offers a unique opportunity to learn alongside others who are navigating similar challenges.

Many participants find that group settings help them:

  • Feel less alone in their experiences
  • Gain new perspectives and coping strategies
  • Build confidence in managing stress
  • Experience support and encouragement
  • Develop lasting skills for resilience

The shared experience of group therapy can foster hope, motivation, and meaningful change.
